  Yakshagana Performance

Yakshagana Kendra is known all over the country for the Yakshagana performances presented by the troupes of the Kendra. First to be mentioned is the Yakshagana Kendra troupe which presents performances in the authentic, traditional Yakshagana style. The actors are past and present students of the Kendra who present episodes from the famous epics. The shows have the traditional elements of Purvaranga, Oddologa - dialogue and a whole range of dances and movements.

Yaksharanga, the professional ensemble supported by the Department of Culture, Government of India, specializes in the presentation of Yakshagana ballet. The ballets presented by the artistes of the troupe under the direction of Dr Karanth were well-known. Though not universally acclaimed, they had memorable moments of heightened artistic effect. Guru Sanjeeva Suvarna the present Principal of the Kendra has reintroduced traditional elements of Yakshagana in the Yaksharanga Ballet and made it a new style. In every major city of India and major country of the world Yaksharanga has presented its shows. The episodes  presented by Yakshagana Kendra troupe and Yaksharanga are more than a dozen.
